Semester 2 Component 1: Pre Production

For the next part of our project that for many would begin in semester two, we would be making our own animation sequence, totalling about 90 seconds in length. It is something that i would love to do, and i get the opportunity to start on for the next couple of weeks. Unlike the previous 10 weeks it will be an independent subject, which will make a nice break from group projects, as insightful as the previous semester was. There is next to no limitation to the animation which gives me free reign on the idea.

MODERNISM IN ART AND ANIMATION

Modernism' and 'Post- Modernism' are both terms referring each to a different philosophical movement that originated just after the 1st World War. In the wake of death and destruction that the previous 4 years had wrought upon the world. The influence of modernism was more of a Ergonomics over Aesthetics in such areas such as carpentry, architecture and other such creative professions. Modernism gave birth to such names as Picasso, who is a well known name the world over. This wasnt the first instance of modernism but the aftermath of the war was what gave the style popularity.

Im sure it comes as no surprise to hear that post modernism came short after the outbreak of modernism. To some, post modernism is considered not just a style but a period of time, encompassing many different styles, one such example of this is none other than another well known name, Andy Warhol. His work was an explosion of colour, which gave birth to the idea of the pop art movement.

IDEAS

If im honest i have no idea of where i want to take my animation currently. I had a discussion with my tutor catchy as to where to take it, the idea of combining my illustration module with this component of the semester, cropped up and is an idea i potentially want to pursue further.

Other ideas include song lyrics, film quotes or scenes, perhaps a Speech or maybe even a sentence that was written somewhere.
